The Garden Route hosts hundreds of weddings each year due to the uniquely beautiful and pristine locations available for brides & grooms for various size weddings. This area boasts top vendors who can assist couples who’ll be getting married to achieve their happily ever after story.
One of my favourite wedding photographers is Jacey Searra Photography. She captures people beautifully, ensuring your memorable day will last forever by using a photographic style that is timeless, romantic and light; an important quality for weddings and special occasion photography. Jacey focuses on capturing special moments, while including the picturesque surroundings you’re in.
I asked Jacey a few personal questions to get to know her a little better.
What inspires your photography?
“The beauty, sincerity, joy and emotional connection to a wedding day is what inspires me – the variety of details chosen to play a part of one’s most special day is endless and every wedding is a story on it’s own. There is nothing more glorious, pure and magnificant than a woman on her wedding day, and with her chosen partner by her side. The opportunities and challenges in wedding photography are endless and I still get nervous every time I photograph a wedding, in a postive way, because I want to make art and also capture every moment. One of my favourite sources of inspiration is Junebug Weddings; their style is modern, crisp, creative and expresses a deep emotion. I love the photographers they showcase!”
We’d like to know what you do in your spare time when not shooting or editing. What are your hobbies?
“I love the Wild Oats market; my non-working Saturdays are spent there. Spending quality time with my furry four-legged kids and my furry husband (enter the beard), walking in the forest or along the beach is what I also look forward to. I enjoy cooking and relaxing with our friends; my friends are my extended family in Knysna and spending time laughing and chatting is great for my soul. I also enjoy hiking and snapping pics with my phone. My main hobbies are decorating our home, gardening, reading books and researching on the net. We try get out of town as much as possible because we enjoy travelling and visiting family out of town. I like trying new hobbies to inspire me in new ways; I recently took part in a Creative Workshop for Women, which got me out of my comfort-zone.”
What are your favourite TV shows and what type of books do you enjoy reading?
“I am actually on the hunt for a good book to read (recommendations welcome)! I enjoy watching the latest DVD’s as there is not much on Satellite TV these days, in my opinion, on TV I land up watching The Real Housewives series, which I’m totally addicted to, or America’s Next Top Model (I’ve learnt a few behind-the-camera tips!). From time to time I also watch Dragons Den, Top Gear, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Expedition Unknown.”
List your top five travel destinations or where you’d like to travel to.
“Venice, Barcelona, New York, London & Koh Samui to date have been my favourite destinations visited. I’d like to visit Prague, Maldives, Paris, Santorini (Greece) and Austria… to name a few. We are planning a Vietnam trip next.”
I’ve seen that you have a canine child. Tell us about that one.
“I have three, but the one you are speaking of is Toby, the Miniture Schnauzer, who dominates my social media pages. He is our intelligent and handsome big-boy; his deep brown eyes melt my heart daily and he knows how to use them to get his way. Bonnie and Plum are my West Highland Terrior girls who give me so much love and affection that I feel honoured every day of my life to be guardian to these girls. They make me belly laugh at least once a day with their antics and sister-politics (such girls) but my favourite is their hide-and-go-seek game they play when we go walking together.”
